Are Blogs Becoming Extinct?

Are regular blogs a thing of the past? Are the microblogs such as Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat killing the comprehensive minds of all generations? Before I settle into a warm and fuzzy conclusion, let’s hear what this guy has to say…..

Did you know that ants take up to 250 naps a day and each nap is about one minute? Are humans turning into ants? So Chris Pirillo thinks that Social Media has pulled the rug from blogging. But this guy is actually considered an internet old man. His video was created in 2016 but he still seems to be making some relevant points.

Here’s my quick two cents. I think that sometimes people want to contribute more than two cents. If a Tweet and an IG post were two cents each, then a blog post can be about 50 cents. If a picture is worth more than a thousand words, then how much is a blog post that has three pictures and approximately 500 words.
Also, Search Engine Optimization still favors blogs. Google loves vlogs which is essentially still a blog except it is a video blog. Gary Vaynurchuck (I’m sure I spelled that wrong) is always emphasizing the “art of the pivot”. He feels content creators need to go where the attention goes.
Yeah, maybe. But I kind of think writers still need to write. The writer isn’t going away. Not every writer is going to write a novel and not every writer loves Tweeting.
Let’s continue with the running commentary of this YouTube video. Is his daughter’s name Jedi? Did Jedi just pull a Riley Curry?
Blogs aren’t going anywhere. They are like the old pick up trucks of Social Media. You may not want to drive it in downtown on a Friday or Saturday night. But if you have some shit to carry and you want to get things done, then you just gotta blog it out.
Here’s my other personal opinion. Most people have to read, write, and talk in order to be sharp at all three. Out of those three reading, the really fundamental one is the one that is taken for granted the most. As I write these words, I realize I need to get back on the reading grind. Do you have any book recommendations? If you do, then just Tweet it to me @RelliePutman.
